They’d have to, or else why would they lend their faces to the iconic sci-fi franchise?
That may have had more to do with the marketing geniuses over at Disney, who decided to team up with Harper’s Bazaar in their November issue— just in time to get everyone all hyped for the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The multi-page spread includes pictures of iconic Star Wars scenes reimagined with runway dynamos instead of the usual Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.
First up we have Kaia Gerber channeling her inner Leia on the icy tundra of Hoth, followed up by the Hadid sisters walking down the Cloud City runway after landing in their Millennium Falcon.

Taylor Hill looks confident despite being captured on the Death Star, while Kendall Jenner gets modern by taking on the role of Rei from The Force Awakens.
While the feature spread is certainly promotional in origin, it also has an interview with Star Wars illustrator Brian Rood. He’s been working on Star Wars since Return of the Jedi as a storyboard artist, where he paints a picture for every one to one-and-a-half minutes of actual film. That means every single iconic scene from the franchise he had a hand in building.
The role of illustrator is a challenging one since Rood has to both remain true to the original source material at all times while also trying to inject new a modern looks for the latest film. At the time of the interview, he was just finishing up the storyboard for Episode VII: The Last Jedi.

For the feature, Harper’s Bazaar editors got to search through Rood’s over 1000 illustrations and picked the ones they liked best. Some of the most epic scenes in the series were chosen, and that’s when they dropped the twist: Rood would have to reimagine the scene except with modern day supermodels.
On top of that, he was also given the challenge of making them wear whatever the editors chose. Sometimes their choices closely mirrored the Star Wars aesthetic, but other times they seemed a little out there, even for sci-fi.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theatres on Dec. 15, 2017.
