At Condé Nast’s offices at One World Trade in New York City, you straighten up when she walks through the doors. You hold your breath when she steps into your elevator, and others lay out flowers and magazines before she steps onto the floor.

Yep, when Meryl Streep comes into the office, there is no fooling around.

For Vogue, Streep met with Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour to talk about Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham, Wintour’s longtime friend who ran the paper during the publishing of the Pentagon Papers and died in 2001. Streep is portraying Graham in her upcoming film The Post.

In the age of constant Russia investigation updates and industries-wide sexual harassment news, Streep and Wintour talked about the importance of knowing when our attention is being diverted from the truth, about the weeks-long coverage of Harvey Weinstein, and the possibility of seeing a female president in their lifetime.

Oh, and the Devil Wears Prada, the book-turned-movie in which Streep played Miranda Priestly, a character based off of Wintour. The book’s author, Lauren Weisberger, is a former assistant of Wintour’s and many speculate that Priestly’s character is a direct parody of Wintour, although Weisberger denies it.
