Ronda Rousey has certainly made history. She helped pave the way for women in MMA in the UFC because she made it to the top with her mad skills and stayed there for a long time. A few years ago, Rousey lost her title to Holly Holm and has yet to reclaims her belt. Many wondered where she would go from there and whether she would ever return as a reigning champ in the UFC. These days, it looks like she is looking into other avenues. She is still modeling and appearing in movies and TV shows, but it looks like Rousey may be heading to the WWE.
The champ has appeared on WWE a few times over the years and made an appearance with The Rock at one point. We’ve seen lots of support from Rousey for her fellow Horsewomen member Shayna Baszler when she went through the Mae Young Classic. It looks as if Rousey is about to sign her own contract with WWE and we are excited to see what she does with this new passion of hers. Rousey is known as one of the most badass and toughest women in the world, so we know that this next challenge is something she is going to master as well. We have found some amazing Instagram photos that have shown off her life passions! If you are a Rousey fan, then you are sure to love them as much as we did.
15. The Bikini Shoot
Remember the time Rousey did a bikini shoot for Sports Illustrated wearing nothing but paint? That’s right, that bathing suit is painted on which really makes you want to look at it more closely. She got a lot of flak for that shoot because many haters thought she wasn’t in the same category as the models that are portrayed on the cover. But we suppose being a top female athlete doesn’t count? The painting session took an astonishing 15 hours to complete, which really goes to show what it takes to be a model these days. Rousey had a good sense of humour about the whole thing, though, especially since the artist had to paint in some very personal areas. “Everyone’s just going to start playing Picture Pages on my cooter, so it’s gonna be real fun.”
14. Over The Threshold
Ronda Rousey recently got married to the love of her life Travis Browne, and judging by the photos on her Instagram page, she couldn’t be happier. One of Rousey’s best features is her smile, and she is practically radiating it in this photo. How could we not assume that she is blissfully happy? This photo was taken just moments before Browne carried her over the threshold. The two wed in Hawaii and they could not stop gushing about each other on social media. “What an amazing day!! She is so perfect in every way! She makes me so happy! She is my other half! I Love You @rondarousey #browsey2017” We would never have thought a tough UFC fighter would be so romantic, but he definitely takes the cake. By all accounts, it looks like the former champ is happy as a clam and that’s all that matters.
13. Training Hard
When Ronda Rousey was training for her fights, it was total insanity. She’s a powerhouse and those arms show that she is not some lightweight. She has become the champ in the UFC for a reason, and we think what she has done in her career so far is remarkable. Now she gets to take those muscles to the WWE and prove that she can hold her own in that arena as well. “The tentative plan for the April 8 show — according to USA Today — will see a four-on-four battle between WWE’s Four Horsewomen — Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Becky Lynch — against Rousey’s Four Horsewomen.” That sounds pretty awesome, and we can’t wait to see Rousey in action.
12. Vin Diesel Love
Honestly, who wouldn’t want to be carried around by Vin Diesel? The two bonded when Rousey had a guest role in Furious 7. It was one of the many roles that she got while fighting in the UFC and she did pretty great in the movie. The two are still friends, and we saw Diesel in the audience the night that Rousey lost her belt to Holly Holm. It must have been cool to have him there supporting her. It’s just too bad that she lost that night. The two actually bonded over video games, believe it or not. “I was a socially awkward kid,” she said in an interview with Conan O’Brien. “So, I’ve been playing Pokémon for 19 years, and it’s actually how me and Vin Diesel became friends. His sister found out that I play World of Warcraft,” Rousey continued, “And so every night, after filming, we would go to his place and set up computers on other sides of the room and be like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna go to this dungeon. We’re gonna go and do this.’”
11. Happiest Day Of Her Life
Rousey and her bridesmaids look blissfully happy and fierce in this photo. The three girls complete the Four Horsewomen squad that Rousey formed, and she wouldn’t want anyone else beside her. “Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Shayna Baszler refer to themselves as the Four Horsewomen, an homage to an old-school stable of pro wrestlers led by the legendary Ric Flair. With Baszler moving to her own successful pro-wrestling career after her MMA run, she was invited to participate in the Mae Young Classic, a tournament spotlighting the best female performers in the world not already signed with WWE.”
10. From The Ring To The Red Carpet
Yes, the girl definitely knows how to clean up! She can go from rough and tough to wearing this stunning gold, backless dress. The girl looked gorgeous in this photo and posted it on Instagram in anticipation for her title fight with Amanda Nunes. As much as she felt prepared for that fight, she went in and lost it. It was at that point that fans, and maybe even Rousey herself, realized that it might be time for her to throw in the towel and move on to a different career. She loves to fight, though, and that is probably what led her to the WWE in the first place, not to mention a career in WWE would be more fun than anything else. She would be able to get tangled up with The Rock once again, that’s for sure.
9. Evening Wear
This stunning black sequined dress was worn for an event before one of her fights in the UFC. It shows off her incredible figure, and it’s the type of photo that would make any guy melt. She’s always impressed us with her style; it’s always been edgy and a little badass. She has spoken a lot about her fears and what it means to be an athlete. We know she has experienced failure in life, but she’s always picked herself up and moved on, and that’s very admirable. “I’m scared of failure so much more than any of the other girls I compete against that I work so much harder than they possibly could. I’m totally down with spiders and frogs and heights and snakes — everything; I’m cool with it.” Everyone, at one time or another, experiences failure. What really matters is how we handle it.
8. Badass Yogi
She posted this photo of her doing yoga on Instagram just before her fight with Amanda Nunes, looking pretty ripped at the time. She definitely experienced a lot in the year before that fight, especially after her loss to Holly Holms. We weren’t even sure we would see the athlete again. She had a very honest talk on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about suicide and how she felt after the Holly Holms fight. Fans were shocked to find out Rousey had considered suicide after the fight. That’s just how much her career meant to her at the time, and that loss rocked her to the core. The reason why she had the successful career she did in the UFC was that people saw her as invincible, and when that illusion went away, she wasn’t sure who she was anymore.
7. Training Partners
Rousey has some of the most amazing fight photos on her Instagram, and if you shuffle through them, you can see the girl’s got heart. She trained hard when she worked in the UFC and that was why she was the champ for so long. After her loss to Holly Holms, however, many people thought that she should have gotten rid of the coach that she’s had since the beginning. Many people thought that he had steered her in the wrong direction for that fight. Rousey has stayed loyal to that coach and continued with him until the Nunes fight where she lost again. We have to wonder if she could have won if she would have tried a different coach for her last fight. We’re not sure if we’ll ever have the answer to that question.
Ronda has tons of photos showing off her abs, after all, she has been prancing around in athletic shorts for years while being a fighter with the UFC. We love seeing the progress pictures on Instagram of how she goes from training to her weigh-in days — what a difference. She has always had a phenomenal body, whether she’s training for a fight or not. Although her career at the time appeared to be pretty glamorous, being a fighter can be really hard on the body. “I’ve separated my shoulder and my collarbone; I’ve messed up my knee a million times. I’ve broken my foot in several places. I’ve broken my toe a bunch, broken my nose a couple of times, and had a bunch of other annoying little injuries, like turf toe and arthritis and tendonitis. It’s part of the game.”
5. Rockin An Evening Gown
It doesn’t seem to matter what Ronda Rousey wears; she looks phenomenal while wearing it. You’ll most likely catch her in a short dress, but there’s no doubt this babe can rock an evening gown all the same. This candid shot was taken by a friend while Rousey was getting ready dolled up for an event. It took a little time for this goddess to be comfortable in her own skin, and we think that’s probably an issue for a lot of women. “When I was in school, martial arts made you a dork, and I became self-conscious that I was too masculine. I was a 16-year-old girl with ringworm and cauliflower ears. People made fun of my arms and called me ‘Miss Man.’ It wasn’t until I got older that I realized: These people are idiots. I’m fabulous.”
4. Bikini Babe
A friend snapped this Instagram photo while Rousey was at a photo shoot. She looks amazing in that blue bikini, and we can’t help but be envious of her athletic figure. She has been an inspiration to many people, even after her loss. She’s quite resilient. Moving away from the UFC may be the best thing in the end because the injuries that she has suffered over the years has not been good for her body. “I only have so much ring time that my body can endure. I’ve had four surgeries on my knees, arthritis in my neck, separated my shoulders, broken my nose. I’m just gonna hope that science advances faster than I can deteriorate. Because what am I gonna do? Put a perfect body into the ground? What’s the point of that?”
3. A True Friend
As we can see here, it’s not hard for Ronda to makes friends in Hollywood, which is why she has been able to jump from one movie project to another. But that’s not to say she’s done with the arena either. In this Instagram post, she is seen with Amy Schumer out hiking like it’s just the most normal thing in the world. Ahhh, the celebrity life! It doesn’t look like she is leaving the limelight anytime soon, and she wants to be the best role model she can be for a younger generation. “People can say I am a terrible role model because I swear all the time or that I fight people. Look, I don’t want little girls to have the same ambitions as me. I want them to know that it is okay to be ambitious. I want them to know that it is okay to say whatever it is that is on their mind.”
2. Training For A New Career
A career in the WWE is nothing to sneeze at, and Rousey has to train for it just as hard as she did in the UFC. Injuries can just as easily happen in wrestling, and even if it’s just for entertainment purposes, there have been a lot of serious injuries in the WWE. Of course, Rousey will be training in a different way, but it will be hard work nonetheless. People are already talking about when her training will start. “There was also buzz backstage at the tournament — mainly among WWE employees and contractors — that Rousey’s training would start soon,” Fightful reported. “She’s taken some basic bumps among other things thus far.” Now, that’s something to be excited about. We look forward to seeing her in the pro-wrestling world; it has been awhile since we saw her in any fighting arena.
1. Fight Scene
We have all the respect in the world for Ronda Rousey’s career and what she has done with it so far. If WWE is her next venture, then we can only imagine that she will rise to the top in that arena as well. What she did in the UFC was make it possible for other women to enter into professional MMA and rise to the top. All the female athletes in the UFC out there can now thank Rousey for breaking the ground in order for them to be taken seriously in the industry. “When I looked at the state of women’s MMA, what I saw was that it was missing rivalries or anything theatrical about it. Everybody was trying to be Miss America, unwilling to go under any kind of criticism, and taking the safe answers. I thought I needed to do whatever I could to get attention.”
