Amid a wave of sexual misconduct allegations against House of Cards star Kevin Spacey, Jessica Chastain is calling for Netflix to continue the show and promote co-star Robin Wright.
The hit streaming series has been in the news all week. Netflix suspended production of season 6 after reports of alleged sexual assault and pedophilia against Spacey started to surface in the media. As with Harvey Weinstein in October, the initial report started a snowball effect, with more victims stepping forward as the week went on.
But with what is arguably streaming TV’s biggest success story to date hanging in the balance, Chastain, an Oscar nominee, had a pretty simple suggestion with how to proceed: Instead of canning the series, why not just let Wright be the powerhouse she already is?

Wright—who made waves in 2016 for demanding she be paid the same amount as Spacey—has been nominated for the outstanding lead actress Emmy five times for her work on the show, and her character already reportedly tests higher than Spacey’s in popularity from time to time. The transition, in reality, could be a seamless one.
