Lego’s new Women of NASA set is Amazon’s newest bestselling toy

The issue of men making more money than women in the workplace has a long history, but today more people are passionately advocating for equality than ever before. While a Lego set featuring women may seem like a small step in that direction, it seems to be a warmly received one.

The Women of Nasa set went on sale November 1 and is already Amazon’s top seller in toys. The retailer even notes that it may take a few extra days to ship if you want one because they’re flying out the door so fast. Featuring Nancy Grace Roman, Margaret Hamilton, Sally Ride and Mae Jemison, the set offers kids a chance to learn not only what these women achieved, but how they forced people in their field to see women as serious contributors in areas once thought to be “a man’s job.”

Along with the figures, The Women of Nasa set lets you build the things that helped these women become legendary. Nancy Grace Roman’s set comes with a Hubble telescope, while Margaret Hamilton’s comes with a stack of book elements that represents the books of listings of Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) onboard flight software source code. Sally Ride and Mae Jemison’s build comes with the famed Challenger shuttle, as well as a launchpad.

The Women of Nasa set is $24.99 and looks to be giving the SNES Classic a hard run for best toy of the year (if the Classic can be called a toy). Grab one and teach your kids that women achieving great things is more than notable – it’s natural.
