‘Argon’ Star Kim Joo Hyuk Passes Away after Tragic Car Accident in Gangnam


On October 30, 2017, around 4:30 pm, Korean actor Kim Joo Hyuk passed away from a deadly car accident.

The Korean entertainment industry and Korean drama fans around the world are mourning the death of Korean actor Kim Joo Hyuk. The actor was reportedly driving along Samseong-dong, a neighborhood in the southern part of Seoul. His black Mercedes Benz SUV this rear-ended another car—a Hyundai Grandeur—before falling down the stairs, flipping over and catching on fire in front of an apartment building entrance.

The “Argon” lead actor was rescued from the crushed car and was unconscious when brought to Konkuk hospital. Despite desperate doctors’ efforts through CPR, the actor passed away at 6:30 that evening. Though an investigation is still underway, authorities confirmed that his car caught on fire following the crash.

Kim Joo Hyuk’s girlfriend Lee Yoo Young was filming an episode of “Running Man” when she received news of her lover’s passing. Her agency, Pungkyung Entertainment, revealed she was recording for the variety show at the time and that, “She’s unable to continue filming after Kim Joo Hyuk’s death had been confirmed.”

The agency also stated, “Lee Yoo Young is having a hard time believing the death of Kim Joo Hyuk and is repeatedly asking for confirmation. It’s been over an hour since his death but it’s still unbelievable.”

Kim Joo Hyuk recently played a reported at the miniseries “Argon.” However, the actor is more known for being part of the travel reality program “2 Days 1 Night.”

Kim Joo Hyuk’s Naver artist profile also lists him as deceased as of 7:10 pm – October 30, 2017.
