When a lot of celebrities “make it” in Hollywood, they tend to forget their roots and where they came from, especially if it’s nowhere near La La Land. These kind of celebs don’t want to be associated with anything redneck. Instead, they often change their names to sound more “Hollywood,” swap their trucks and 4×4’s for fuel-efficient and L.A.-friendly cars and drink the latest, trendiest health drink than a much needed shot of whiskey (in the morning, mind you). In other words, celebs do whatever they can to stay as far away from their southern roots… even if they secretly still miss it (but just won’t admit it to anyone!).
With that being said, here are 15 celebrities that could have totally make great guest stars on Duck Dynasty. Could you imagine some of these celebs rubbing elbows with Phil Robertson, or better yet, getting down and dirty with their duck hunting business? It’s just a shame that no one thought about mixing Hollywood with First Family of the South when there was still a chance. Check out our list of 15 redneck celebs that belong on an episode Duck Dynasty.
15. Britney Spears
Let’s face it; when it comes to Britney Spears, you can take the girl out of Louisiana but you certainly can’t take Louisiana out of her. Brit would be a prime candidate to join the cast of Duck Dynasty. The chart topper absolutely loves her Southern roots and she doesn’t make any excuses for it, either.
I mean, we all remember how she used to walk barefoot into gas stations and eat Cheetos with Frapuccinos for dinner. While she’s never really said it, a lot of her fans have been calling her a loud and proud redneck for years! And who’s to say that she wouldn’t love shooting, hunting and fishing with the Duck Dynasty gang? She would fit in with no problems at all. As a matter of fact, we’re surprised that she hasn’t mentioned anything about the series at all.
14. Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon might try to hide it at times, but there’s no denying that she’s a Southern gal. After all, the woman named her son after her home state: Tennessee. Sure, Reese Witherspoon is a movie star, but she’s still that Southern gal who has managed to charm her way to the top of the Hollywood A-list. She’s even played an almost real-life character in her 2002 movie, Sweet Home Alabama.
Plus, the girl’s real name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon. She once said, “I had someone correct my grammar once on a blind date, and within the first 10 minutes the date was over. You just don’t correct somebody’s grammar. That’s just not okay. I’m from Tennessee, so I probably say everything wrong. I might have said ‘ain’t,’ or something like that.”
13. Pamela Anderson
Sure, Pamela Anderson is technically from Canada and she has lived in Malibu all her life, but she does have a penchant for guys who live off the grid. What’s more, there’s no denying that she’s lived the redneck lifestyle herself. Back in 2010, she admitted that she traded in her Hollywood mansion for trailer park life, and she was absolutely happy about it, too.
In an interview with Britain’s The Mirror, Pamela said that she had no qualms about downsizing her life to a one-bedroom trailer home in a run-down neighborhood just outside the glitz and glamour of Malibu. This was mostly because she was struggling to make ends meet at the time. She said, “The boys and me love the trailer park, it’s a special community, we’re happy here. It’s the most beautiful place, it’s where I take my motorcycle, my surf board. There are firemen with their children, surfers, all sorts. The children are so happy. I wouldn’t trade my life with anyone.”
12. Chris Pratt
It’s without a doubt that Chris Pratt would be a perfect fit for a reality television show like Duck Dynasty. After all, he’s made it no secret that he loves the great outdoors and finds solace in activities like hunting, fishing, and shooting. He’s been doing it for years and according to Chris, it’s what has helped keep him grounded while working in Hollywood.
But then again, Chris’ fans have seen a totally different side of him these last few years. He’s gone from a down-to-earth husband and father to Hollywood’s leading male actor. And as a result, many insiders have said that he’s also acted like a diva. If there’s anything that will bring Chris back to his redneck roots, it’s a reminder of who he was before he became the industry’s golden boy. Now, it’s only a matter of who is willing to step to the plate and bring back Chris to where he came from.
11. Vince Vaughn
Vince Vaughn might have been born and raised in Chicago, but there’s no denying that this man has a soft spot for all things redneck. In fact, we’ll even say that he is probably Hollywood’s biggest closeted redneck. You know all the man wants to do is hunt, shoot and fish when no one else is looking!
As a matter of fact, Vince had one of the best quail hunting scenes in 2005’s hit comedy Wedding Crashers (even though his character looked so out of place!). Is it just us, or does the man look too natural with a gun in his hands? C’mon, Vince! We want to see him hunt more, both on and off-screen. Actually, we just want to see more of him altogether.
10. David Spade
If there’s one person who knows how to do redneck, it’s David Spade. I mean, the man was Joe Dirt on the big screen for crying out loud. He managed to pull off the entire look, from his redneck haircut, his wardrobe and even his authentic redneck accent. He sure had us fooled! As a matter of fact, a lot of his fans agree that the man should have won an Oscar for his Joe Dirt role. He was a complete natural!
David has even hinted that he doesn’t belong in a place like Hollywood. If he could, he would definitely move as far away from La La Land as he possibly could (and to the south, maybe). He once said, “Everyone is so weird in L.A. that if you’re somewhat normal, it’s exotic.” And we couldn’t agree with him more.
9. Miley Cyrus
How can we make a list about Hollywood rednecks and not mention Miley Cyrus’ name? The chat topper is redneck, inside and out. I mean, her father is Billy Ray Cyrus. The man had the anthem of the year when he sang “Achy Breaky Heart” back in 1992. The song was so big that everyone on both sides of the coast were singing along to his lyrics.
Miley has even named herself as the princess of country girls in Hollywood. She once said, “There is no girl out there speaking on behalf of the country girls who are turnt up. I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they’re ‘fashion.’ But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I’m on a whole other level of sh*t that those girls don’t even get yet because they don’t know how to do it.”
8. Channing Tatum
Oh, Channing Tatum. He might be a huge Hollywood star right now, but he was also once the King of Tampa (and that’s not really a compliment, mind you). And while Channing doesn’t talk much about his beginnings, a lot of people can’t help but think that he’s the kind of person who would rather sit back and kick back with his hometown buddies than turn up at yet another Hollywood premiere. That’s just not his style.
Plus, Channing is also very self-aware. He once said, “I’m not pretty. The truth is I didn’t think I could be a model at all. I was looking at some of the guys on the walls at Irene Marie and I thought to myself ‘Jesus Christ. I can’t do this. I don’t look anything like these guys.’”
7. Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake is another celebrity from the great state of Tennessee and he is definitely not afraid to let people know it. Before he moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue his dreams of being a boy band singer, he grew up with his mother before becoming the huge household name that he is today.
Although for Justin, life wasn’t always easy. Speaking about his childhood in the south, Justin once said, “I grew up in Tennessee, and if you didn’t play football, you were a sissy. I got slurs all the time because I was in music and art… I was an outcast in a lot of ways… but everything that you get picked on for or you feel makes you weird is essentially what’s going to make you sexy as an adult.”
6. Blake Shelton
There’s no way that we can make a list like this and leave out a name like Blake Shelton. The man is country, inside and out. Sure, he now lives in Los Angeles with his super chic girlfriend Gwen Stefani, but his heart has always been and will always be in his home state of Oklahoma.
Blake loves to hunt and shoot so much that he’s introduced both to Gwen, who has picked up some of her husband’s favorite pastimes and has made them her own. If that weren’t enough, Gwen’s three young sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo, have even adapted Blake’s redneck ways by dressing and talking like him, too! It goes without saying that Blake and his country lifestyle have had a huge impact on Gwen and her family. She can easily be the next Queen of Country!
5. Jamie Lynn Spears
Jamie Lynn Spears just isn’t from the south; she is the south. After she gave birth to her daughter Maddie back in 2008, she left Hollywood to return home to Louisiana so she could raise her daughter away from the spotlight.
What’s more, Jamie Lynn also recently went back to her country roots. She showed off some impressive vocal cords by releasing several country tunes and of course, singing live in Nashville. And while she’s yet to reach the same kind of global success that her sister Britney Spears has been enjoying for years now, she’s not a sellout. She won’t be making records that studio executives want to hear. Instead, she is making country music that her fans want to hear. It’s just too bad that we’ll never be able to hear her sing a few songs on Duck Dynasty. I mean, it’s not like she would have had to travel too far!
4. Miranda Lambert
Speaking of the Queen of Country, there’s no way that we can forget about someone like Miranda Lambert. The woman basically owns the music country scene right now. Miranda has even done something that many celebrities would never dare to do and that’s admit that she’s a lifetime member of the NRA. And she’s not embarrassed about it, either. She’s someone you definitely don’t want to mess with.
Plus, Miranda has had a style revolution of sorts in recent years. She’s gone back to her roots, so to speak. Speaking about her redneck style, Miranda once said, “I was a big shiny, glittery-type person. Now I’m a jeans and T-shirt girl, or I’ll wear sun dresses and cowboy boots in the summer. But at first I had to have stylists tell me, ‘That’s ugly.’”
3. Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is by far the biggest Hollywood star to come out of the state of Kentucky (even though a lot of people would argue that the title belongs to someone like Johnny Depp instead). She’s a country gal and has even shown off her country roots on the Hollywood red carpet. The girl knows where she comes from and she doesn’t make any excuses about it.
Yet, Jennifer has had to dispel rumors that she lived a backwards life out in the great open. She’s a country girl, but she’s not a backwards girl. Still, it would be fun to see her on Duck Dynasty. She once said, “I grew up in Kentucky, but I did not grow up like that. I had heat, and I didn’t have to shoot my dinner or anything.”
2. Paula Deen
Paula Deen would not only be a great asset to a show like Duck Dynasty, but she would probably cook them all a wonderful, Southern meal in the process. There’s no woman in this planet that can come close to cooking good, Southern home-cooked meals like Paula Deen. She’s also the reason why butter always has to be in stock in supermarkets all throughout the south!
With that being said, seeing Paula Deen on a reality television show that is not in her element would be incredibly entertaining. That woman has a mouth, and boy, does she know how to use it. She wouldn’t hold back, especially if it came to disagreeing with Pat Robertson and his family. But at the same time, there’s a good chance that she would also cook their ducks and set them on the table for them.
1. Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson is another celebrity that doesn’t really belong in Hollywood and she doesn’t really belong in New York City, either. As a matter of fact, both her heart and her fashion sense has always belonged in her home state of Texas.
Jessica even managed to make waves a few years back when she said, “I’m not anorexic. I’m from Texas.” Jessica, who is now worth billions thanks to her fashion empire, admits that her life was definitely different before she hit it big. As a matter of fact, Jessica even says that she lived in a rather closed off from the rest of the world during her childhood in Texas. “Well, for me, I grew up very Southern Baptist, and I definitely lived in my bubble. You know, I lived in my bubble that was in my church.”
