She always loved the said character ever since she was young.
Dynah Rose Benigno loved the color pink, and especially loved to collect Hello Kitty merchandise. Sadly, Dynah passed away at a very young age of 20. But as a way of honouring the deceased, the family decided to go with what she loved the most: Hello Kitty.
Upon entering the Benigno home during Dynah’s wake, it seemed like going into a fantasy world, filled with colors and enticing decorations. You’d think that it was to celebrate a birthday party—but it was the opposite.
According to Dynah’s friends and family, she didn’t want her wake to be sad, but rather a happy one. Their home in Barangay Lubnac in Vintar, llocos Norte, was filled with pink and violet flowers, while white and pink decorations hung from the ceiling.
The room was also filled with Dynah’s lovely pictures as well, alongside friends and family who helped in preparing the room.
Another decoration that attracted visitors were the hello kitty stickers that covered the bottom part of her coffin. “Pinaghirapan naming ibigay lahat, ang kaniyang kabaong, kahit paano, para lamang maibigay ang kaniyang mga gusto,” Dynah’s mother, Daisy, said.
(We worked hard for everything, including her coffin, so that at least, we can give her what she always wanted.)
According to a report by ABS-CBN, Dynah passed away from pneumonia following a surgery for ectopic pregnancy.
“Alam kong masaya na siya dahil nakikita naman niya ang aming effort,” says Joey Damo, Dynah’s boyfriend.
(I know that she is happy because she can see all our efforts.)
