Former Blink-182 frontman Tom Delonge has been honored with an award this week, but this one isn’t for his music.

Fans probably remember that DeLonge left the band in 2015 to focus on his “other non-musical endeavors” (much to the chagrin of his bandmates). Apparently one of those endeavors was UFO research.

DeLonge not only claims that he’s had contact with aliens, he was one of the people whose emails with Hillary Clinton got leaked by John Podesta during last year’s WikiLeaks hack. In addition to advocating for general extraterrestrial awareness in the media, it looks like DeLonge has also been meeting with government officials about potential alien-autopsy cover ups. Nice.

In honor of his work, the guitarist and pop-punk legend was celebrated at the Open Minds 2017 International UFO Congress this past week with the title of UFO researcher of the year. Unfortunately he couldn’t make it to the ceremony, but he did send along a video acceptance speech instead (his part starts around the 5-minute mark):

Who says retirement has to be boring?
