Disabled Old Man Walks Every Day Selling Ice Drops in the Streets to Make an Honest Living

While many able-bodied men choose to steal in order to survive, this disabled man makes an honest living.

We all grew up with our grandparents, who took care of us whenever our parents were not around. Sadly, when many of us become adults, our grandparents are cast aside and forgotten. This old man works despite his age and his disability, and netizens are amazed by his dedication!

Tatay Bel Garsiano was spotted walking from Ohaw, General Santos City to Saranggani province, where he sells ice drops for a living. Aside from his old age, Tatay Bel also has a paralyzed arm and foot—making it doubly hard to work especially under the heat of the sun.

A Facebook page shared Tatay Bel’s story, in hopes to look for kindhearted people to help the old man: “Siya po si tatay Bel Garsiano .Nakita po namin sya sa may hi-way ng linao tinoto papuntang Gensan, bandang 11:30[a.m.] ng umaga. Napansin naming nagiisa sya habang bitbit ang malaking icebox. Paralisado ang kanyang kaliwang kamay at paa. Pero ang sabi nya pinanganak na raw sya ganun (He is Bel Garsiano. We saw him along the Linao tinoto highway on the way to Gensan around 11:30 am. We noticed he was alone while carrying the large icebox. His left hand and foot are both paralyzed. But he says he was born that way).”

But he doesn’t let his age or disability stop him from making money for his family. According to him, he was born with that disability and was able to adapt early in life.
