They dragged the poor animal to shore before passing it around—to take selfies with it!
A lot of animals die because of human stupidity. Even animals inside zoos—where they are supposed to be safe—are being shot dead because of one stupid human act. We have to learn that these are actually huge losses.
Back in 2016, a baby dolphin died on an Argentine beach resort after tourists passed the animal around to take selfies with it. At that time, a spokesperson for Peta said: Peta said: “In their efforts to get a novelty ‘selfie’, these holidaymakers showed a naïve – and ultimately fatal – disregard for life by hauling this baby dolphin out of the sea, where he or she belonged. One can only imagine the trauma suffered not only by this baby, who was passed around like a toy by marauding tourists, but also his or her grieving mother.”
As if people had not learned from that incident, another baby dolphin dies because of a horribly similar incident that took place in the seaside city of San Bernardo, near Buenos Aires. Tourists flock this baby dolphin and started to pass the poor animal around—just to take those ‘rare’ selfies to be posted on social media. How can a selfie be equated to a precious life?
While the giddy tourists were posing with the dolphin like it was some kind of toy, the animal was slowly losing its life.
Claudia, who saw the tourists surrounding the dolphin, told Argentine news station C5N: “He was young and came to the shore. They could have returned him to the water—in fact, he was breathing. But everyone started taking photos and touching him. They said he was already dead.”
