The incidence of diabetes is growing around the world. It is in the top ten leading causes of deaths, and is continuing to go up in rank as more and more people acquire the said disease. With the increase in fast food chains and food joints, more and more people tend to eat out rather than making healthy, home-cooked meals.
But did you know eggs are the probably the healthiest food there is for diabetics? On their own, eggs are a moderately lean protein source that can help balance a diabetic meal plan. Here is a simple treat to eat.
2 raw eggs
12 pcs native chili pepper
½ tsp. marine or sea salt
- Cut and grind the chili peppers.
- Mix the peppers with raw eggs well.
- Add ½ teaspoon sea salt
- Drink the mixture
- Consume for several days
Though eggs are a really useful addition to a diabetic meal plan, many diabetics worry about eating eggs since they contain cholesterol. One large fresh, whole, raw egg has just 72 calories. It has a bit more than 6 grams of protein, a bit less than 5 grams of fat, and less than one-third of a gram of carbohydrate.
What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood.
Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get diabetes, called gestational diabetes.
