Good news for women indeed!
Chocolate contains magnesium, which can help alleviate cramps and increase energy. It also contains endorphins, or “happy hormones,” which can help improve your mood. Finally, dark chocolate is high in antioxidants called flavonoids, which may have a positive impact on your health.
But for Swiss chocolatier Marc Widmer, the mastermind behind this amazing sweet treat, chocolate can be a ‘medicinal treat’ for women suffering from intense menstrual pains every month.
Widmer laimed: “We want to make the menstruation days of women more comfortable.” How? Apparently, Widmer created a chocolate that can cure menstrual pains.
Every woman knows how painful and uncomfortable menstrual cramps are—and the only solution is to take pain killers, which does not work most of the time. But thanks to the Frauenmond bar, which literally translates to “woman’s moon”, women will be able to enjoy a bar of chocolate while easing the pain they are experiencing.
The Frauenmond bar is said to contain 17 Swiss mountain herbs along with 60% chocolate. In addition to the herbal elements on his recipe, on the website ‘Chocolate with Love’, Mr Widmer said his product—which retails for around AUD$16—could have a ‘positive effect… and promote overall well-being’ which would make eating the chocolate ‘twice as much pleasure’.
What are menstrual cramps?
Menstrual cramps, also known as dysmenorrhea or period pains, are painful sensations felt in the lower abdomen that can occur both before and during a woman’s menstrual period. The pain ranges from dull and annoying to severe and extreme.
